Budget Information

The budget process in Edo State is a comprehensive and transparent process that involves the following key stages:
 
Budget Formulation: The Ministry of Budget, Planning, and Economic Development, in collaboration with other relevant ministries, departments, and agencies, formulates the state’s annual budget based on the state’s development priorities and revenue projections.

Budget Approval: The draft budget is presented to the State House of Assembly for review and approval. Public hearings may also be held to gather input from stakeholders.

Budget Implementation: Once the budget is approved, it is implemented by the relevant ministries, departments, and agencies. The Ministry of Budget, Planning, and Economic Development monitors the implementation to ensure compliance with the budgetary provisions.

Budget Performance Evaluation: At the end of the fiscal year, the Ministry evaluates the performance of the budget against the set targets and objectives. A budget performance report is prepared and made public to ensure accountability and transparency.

The state’s budget is divided into different allocations for various sectors and purposes. The allocations are based on the state’s development priorities and the need to ensure equitable distribution of resources. Some of the key sectors that receive budget allocations include :
