The newly appointed Edo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele has expressed her readiness to hit the ground running towards budget planning for year 2026.
Dr. Ebosele gave the assurance during a engagement with the Management staff at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Benin City, where she described her appointment as a call to action and responsibility. She acknowledged the trust reposed in her by the Governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, adding that it was a significant responsibility, while appreciating the opportunity to serve.
The Commissioner reiterated the Ministry’s vital role in stimulating economic growth and driving development across the State. She pledged her commitment to providing purposeful leadership, fostering teamwork, and ensuring effective planning and budget implementation to propel Edo State’s economic transformation.
According to Dr. Ebosele, “the period ahead is crucial as the State prepares for the 2026 budget year. We have a lot of tasks ahead. This is not new to us and I believe we are ready”.
Earlier, the Functioning Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry, Mr. Kingsley Ogbodu, noted that the Commissioner’s wealth of experience is of common knowledge to stakeholders. He described the Commissioner’s appointment as “A round peg in a round hole”, assuring her of the Ministry’s cooperation and commitment toward achieving the Okpebholo-led administration’s five-point SHINE Agenda.
Dr. Ebosele’s assumption of duty was marked by a brief welcome ceremony, which included a prayer session led by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chekwube, who prayed for wisdom, guidance and success as she assumed her new role. The Commissioner was later conducted on a guided tour of the Ministry’s ’s Departments and offices by the Functioning Permanent Secretary and other Directors.
Highpoint of the engagement was the presentation of a congratulatory card by Mr. Ogbodu, on behalf of the management and staff of the Ministry to officially welcome the Commissioner.
